Guidelines

This ring is for women age 45 or older who know they have wisdom and strength and who have paid their dues. The lines on our faces are not disfigurements; they are maps to serenity, quiet certitude, and the power we are now free to draw from our own selves, for our own reasons. As crones, we are not entitled to respect... we have earned it with our two hands. And we share whatever is needed to help others earn their places in elder councils. To borrow a metaphor from my Pagan friends, we are no longer the Maiden or the Mother, but we are no less women for it.

If your site reflects your hard-won Croneship, and if you're a woman who stands on her own without apology or deference, then please be welcomed to the Council of Crones. It's a brand new ring, so don't be intimidated by the lack of volume. I'll be working hard to change that.

There are not many inflexible requirements for this ring, other than of age and gender. I will not accept sites with x-rated content or those which promote bigotry, hatred or violence of any kind. Note to artists and writers: artistic nudity and literature that requires a certain amount of erotic content to maintain its integrity or make a point is NOT pornography. If you post a clear cautionary at the webring entrance to your site, then such content will most likely be accepted. If it isn't, please don't take it personally, and please don't argue with me about it. I'm the one who has to make the value judgement, whether you agree with it or not. Past a certain (and admittedly subjective) level, your site may simply be inappropriate to the intent of the ring. I myself have two other websites which are not suited to this particular ring, so be assured it's not a reflection on any other point. Conversely, I will not have a great deal of sympathy with complaints about the content of someone else's site. If I accept it, it's in. If it offends you, you'll probably be happier in a different group.

It's immaterial to me whether or not you've built your own site without outside help, because I'm interested in content...not html expertise. This does mean that your site should have something more than just links to other sites, but it's unlikely you would be here if it didn't. I have no objection to commercial sites, but please; no "miracle" products to restore youthful glamor and no dating services. Women of all faiths (or lack of them) are welcome to join, and I ask that everyone respect each others' privacy in the matter of persuasion toward or away from a particular belief.
